HYROX Pro Series

/ ˈhaɪrɒks proʊ ˈsɪriːz / · proper noun

Also: Pro division, HYROX Pro

The elite division of HYROX racing, featuring heavier race weights, fewer total competitors per heat, and qualification gating. Pro Series athletes race against each other (not the broader Open field) for season-long ranking points and a slot at the HYROX World Championships.

Pro vs Open differences

  • Heavier weights: Pro Men sled push 200kg vs Open 152kg; Pro Men farmer's carry 32kg/hand vs Open 24kg
  • Higher wall ball target: Pro Men 10ft (3.05m) vs Open 9ft
  • Same distance and reps: 8km running, 100 wall balls, 200m farmer's carry: only the loads differ
  • Qualification required: athletes must hit a sub-X time in an Open race to enter the Pro division

Qualification standards (2026 season)

Standards are reset each season; current cutoffs:

  • Pro Men: sub-1:00 in Open Men HYROX
  • Pro Women: sub-1:10 in Open Women HYROX
  • Pro Doubles: the team's prior Open Doubles time gates entry
  • Athletes who place top-10 in their Open age group also qualify automatically

Season structure

The Pro Series runs as a season (typically September to June) with athletes scoring points at each Major event. Top scorers across all events qualify for the HYROX World Championships in summer. The series transforms HYROX from a one-off race into a season-long competitive sport, similar to Formula 1 or surf league formats.

Pro performance bands (Pro Men)

  • Top 10 globally: 56-59 minutes
  • Top 50: 60-64 minutes
  • Top 200: 65-72 minutes
  • Pro qualifier: any sub-1:00 finish in Open

Why Pro matters

  • Smaller heats: Pro racks are typically 16-32 athletes, not 800. Less congestion at stations.
  • Sponsorship: Pro athletes attract apparel and supplement sponsorships (PUMA, Beyond the Limit, Beyond Brand Nutrition, Concept2).
  • Broadcast time: Pro races receive television coverage on Eurosport, ESPN, and HYROX TV.
  • Pathway: top Pro athletes are emerging as the first generation of "professional hybrid athletes": their full-time job is racing.

The pro athlete as career

As of the 2026 season, ~15-25 athletes globally earn a full-time living from HYROX racing: a number that has grown 5x since the 2022 season. The economic model combines prize money (top 3 each Major), apparel/supplement sponsorships ($30k-$200k/yr at pro level), and content monetization (YouTube, Instagram, paid training programs).
