CrossFit Games

Also: The CrossFit Games, The Games
The CrossFit Games is the annual world championship of CrossFit: five days of unknown workouts that crown the "Fittest on Earth" in men's and women's individual divisions, plus team and age-group titles. Founded in 2007 in Aromas, California, the Games has grown from a backyard competition with a $500 purse to a multi-million-dollar broadcast event held in Madison, Wisconsin (2017–2023) and Fort Worth, Texas (2024 onward).
How athletes qualify
The qualification path runs through three stages:
- CrossFit Open: 3 weeks, ~300,000 global participants
- Quarterfinals: top ~25% of the Open advance
- Semifinals: regional live events; top finishers earn Games invites
Format
Workouts are announced shortly before each event begins: sometimes hours, sometimes minutes. Disciplines tested include weightlifting, gymnastics, monostructural cardio (running, swimming, rowing), and combined "chipper" workouts. The unifying principle: the broadest, most general fitness wins.
