REDLINE Fitness Games

/ ˈrɛd.laɪn ˈfɪt.nəs ɡeɪmz / · proper noun

Also: REDLINE, REDLINE Fitness Games™

REDLINE Fitness Games is a functional fitness race series. Competitors race through twelve workout stations, alone or as a team, testing conditioning under fatigue. The flagship events run in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. REDLINE is a fixed-format race series (every event uses the same twelve stations), positioned between HYROX and CrossFit: more stations than HYROX's eight, but without CrossFit's variable-workout methodology and high-skill Olympic lifting.

Race format

A REDLINE race is twelve consecutive functional fitness stations. Signature stations include sled push, sled pull, farmer's carry, sandbag lunges, and burpee long jumps. Unlike HYROX's 1km segments, REDLINE integrates shorter shuttle runs (around 400m) between or within stations rather than a uniform 1km loop. The result leans further into strength-under-fatigue and less into uniform aerobic pacing. Categories include Singles (Beginner and Competitive), Doubles, and Team Relay (teams of four). Most participants finish in 30–60 minutes depending on category and ability. The Competitive bracket pays prize money and runs age-group divisions.

Doubles format: "You-Go-I-Go"

The Doubles bracket runs a YGIG (You-Go-I-Go) format: partners share the workload of each station, with one working while the other rests. How the volume is split (strict alternation vs uneven shares) is generally at the team's discretion within the official athlete-guide rules. The team is only credited with a finishing time once both athletes have completed the full sequence. This is structurally similar to HYROX Doubles but spread across more stations.

Beginner accessibility

A Singles Beginner category exists for first-time competitors. Same twelve stations, scaled loads, on-site coaching. Framed explicitly as a low-pressure entry point for gym-goers who have never raced. The Competitive Singles bracket is the prize-money track.

How REDLINE differs from HYROX

  • Stations: 12 vs HYROX's 8
  • Running: Shorter shuttle runs (~400m) between or within stations; no 1km uniform loop
  • Geography: Asia-first (KL, Singapore, Malaysia tour); HYROX is global
  • Vibe: Gamified theatrics, branded sponsorship (Nissan in 2026); HYROX is more austere arena format
  • Duration: 30–60 min typical; HYROX competitive 60–90 min, beginner up to 2 hours

2026 calendar

The flagship 2026 event is in Kuala Lumpur on 25–26 July, sponsored by Nissan, with three new stations added and revised race dynamics versus 2025. The series has been expanding across Southeast Asia; check the official site for the current city list.

FAQ

What are the REDLINE Fitness Games?

REDLINE is a gamified functional fitness event series designed to challenge gym-goers and fitness enthusiasts of all levels. Competitors race through twelve workout stations as Singles, Doubles, or a Team of four.

What is the format of REDLINE Fitness Games?

Twelve workout stations completed consecutively. The Doubles bracket uses a YGIG (You-Go-I-Go) alternation: one partner works while the other recovers, until both have completed all twelve stations.

Is REDLINE good for beginners?

Yes. The Singles Beginner category is built specifically for newcomers to functional fitness, with scaled loads and on-site coaching. No prize money on this track, no penalty for being slow. The Competitive bracket sits alongside it for trained athletes.

How long does a REDLINE race last?

Race duration typically ranges from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on fitness level and race category. Minimum participant age is 16.

Is there a cut-off time?

There is no hard cut-off, but time penalties apply for any station a participant cannot complete. Penalties are documented in the official athlete guide.

What training prepares you for REDLINE?

Because the race is shorter and more strength-loaded than HYROX, training should weight toward anaerobic power and lactate-threshold work. Compound strength (back squat, Bulgarian split squat, dumbbell row, front-foot-elevated split squat) builds the local muscular endurance needed for sled push, sled pull, and sandbag lunges. Complement with Zone 4–5 conditioning circuits to sustain output station-to-station under fatigue.

REDLINE vs HYROX: which should you pick?

Pick HYROX if you want a global circuit, uniform race format, and a long aerobic component. Pick REDLINE if you live in Southeast Asia, want more variety in stations, and prefer a shorter, more conditioning-heavy race. See our hybrid athlete essay for why training overlaps either way.
